Making OpenType fonts with free software
Bednár, Peter ; Mekyska, Jiří (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
In thesis themes of typography and computer font of OpenType format is described in details. At the beginning attention is paid to historical development of typeface, where stress is laid mainly on development of Roman and white letter with their characteristics. Having presented basis of typography work is concentrated on topic of digital font with emphasis on possibilities of OpenType format. Further its characteristics and advantages were listed compared to another formats and it was evaluated as format appropriate also for creating font in education process. Letterspacing and kerning were mentioned between basic graphical modifications in creating fonts. In theoretical part of the thesis they were examined in available programs designed for creating font in OpenType format. Except free available means into summary were included also commercial types due to absence of more advanced instruments and functions with free available applications. In evaluation was found that the most convenient for education is Fontlab Fontographer commercial program, free Type lite and Fontforge indicated for Open-source platform. Practical part of the thesis is focused on two chosen programs for creating main font characteristics. The goal was to detect if it is possible to reach identical results when using both programs. Fontographer program enabled to use wide tool palette dedicated to vector graphic processing by means of Adobe Illustrator similar instrument. In the case of Type lite program there were rather less instruments, what is sufficient for elementary work and familiarization with creating of digital typeface. Freeware shortage is basic absence of kerning, spacing or hinting functions. Comparing program possibilities, it falls that freeware programs based on OS Windows with their functionality are sufficient only for entry level users. The best option within free available programs is Fontforge for OS Linux which supports mentioned typographic functions. Fontographer was recommended for teaching of basic characteristics of OpenType font format. Another goal of the thesis was creating of recommended work procedure for creating basic characteristics of OpenType font for students, that is enclosed at the end of the thesis.
Application for 2D Curves Demonstration
Opletal, Pavel ; Švub, Miroslav (referee) ; Venera, Jiří (advisor)
This Bachelor's Thesis deals with planar curves used in computer graphics. It sums up general ideas of these curves and deals with particular methods for computing planar curves. It describes methods used for computing Ferguson cubic curves, Kochanek-Bartels spline, Cardinal spline, Catmull-Rom spline, Bézier curves and their modifications, Coons cubic curves, Coons cubic B-spline curves and NURBS. Practical part of this project deals with concept and impementation of tutorial, which demonstrates chosen curves.
Interactive web applications supporting education of 3D graphics
Morávek, Jan ; Mokrý, Ondřej (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on computer 3D graphics and the implementation of educational applications in JavaScript language. Discussed topics of computer graphics include object transformations, Bezier patches and the role of the camera in the scene. The thesis describes the basic theory of these areas and educational applications. The thesis also includes the detailed description of the features and the implementation of the created applications. In the end of the thesis possible extensions are discussed.
Geodesics
Čambalová, Kateřina ; Tomáš, Jiří (referee) ; Doupovec, Miroslav (advisor)
The goal of the thesis is to create an overivew of geodesics. At the beginning of their study, they were considered shortest paths connecting two points on surfaces. In the thesis we will show more of the complexity of the term and introduced the properties, some uses of the geodesics and methods of their computation. Later, the Clairaut patches and their geodesics will be analysed. Clairaut patches are characterized by a specific property which makes computation of geodesics simpler. 3D plots of some Clairaut patches and their geodesics are also included.
Interactive Splint Positioning on 3D Bone Models
Jedlička, Lukáš ; Španěl, Michal (referee) ; Kršek, Přemysl (advisor)
This Master's Project deals with creation of virtual Splint (Orthopedic plate) model and with placement of virtual Splint model onto 3D Bone model. It handles with creating of interpolation curves in 3D (especially Subdivision method) and motion along a curve. This work is only in Czech.
Education Computer Program for Demonstration of 2D Shapes Rasterization
Krupička, Vojtěch ; Kubíček, Radek (referee) ; Štancl, Vít (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of rasterization of vector objects on display devices (e.g. computer screen). The rasterization is one of the most important phenomena in computer graphics. The knowledge of mathematical equations and formulas which describe relevant vector objects is necessary to understand this phenomenon. This education software for the visual demonstration of rasterization was created to familiarize users with the rasterization principles of selected vector objects.
Creating 3D models and tutorials for computer exercises in Modern computer graphics
Gros, Jan ; Frenštátský, Petr (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
The content of this thesis is to introduce with the issues taught in the course MGMP and create tutorials and 3D models in Blender for computer exercises of course MGMP. The first part is devoted to some similar courses taught at universities in the Czech Republic. Another parts are dealing with the method of Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces, texture mapping issues, issues of curves and animation of objects with using curves. The last part is about shading 3D models and about various methods which have been developed and are in use to this day. The output of work are video tutorials and models for MGMP course, dealing with different parts of the thesis.
Intelligent lightning system
Harman, Ján ; Šír, Michal (referee) ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of my master’s thesis is a system for control of the light intensity. It is electronic equipment which controls the intensity of the light circuits based on settings and input signals. This equipment could work on single-phase systems or multiphase systems. The equipment is controlled by the signal DMX-512 which is a standard for the control of lighting technologies. The set up of this equipment is based on a personal computer or in a limited form by a small connected display.
Real world geometry in mathematics teaching
BÁRTOVÁ, Michaela
The reader learns about relations of geometry and real life in this diploma thesis. Selected objects are mathematically formulated and illustrated with photos. Photos help to understand geometry. Models are created in the program GeoGebra. The goal is to create materials for teaching mathematics.
Zobecněné obyčejné diferenciální rovnice v metrických prostorech
Skovajsa, Břetislav ; Malý, Jan (advisor) ; Pražák, Dalibor (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to build the foundations of generalized ordinary differ- ential equation theory in metric spaces. While differential equations in metric spaces have been studied before, the chosen approach cannot be extended to in- clude more general types of integral equations. We introduce a definition which combines the added generality of metric spaces with the strength of Kurzweil's generalized ordinary differential equations. Additionally, we present existence and uniqueness theorems which offer new results even in the context of Euclidean spaces.
